Two key challenges faced by engineers designing products that include sheet metal are meeting functional requirements and managing overall part costs. Often, product designers are in the dark regarding which features contribute to increased costs and that could have long term implications as designs progress toward production. This session will dive into some of the common design features that contribute to higher part costs, and how design for manufacturability (DFM) analysis can support those seeking to effectively navigate the tradeoffs between cost and part functionality.
